AYURVEDIC MEDICINE 4 Hours
Instructor: Harsha Jayatilake, M.D., FAAFP, DABHM
Prerequisite: none

Every aspect of people’s physical, mental and spiritual health is dealt with in this all-embracing traditional Indian system of medicine. The name Ayurveda comes from two Sanskrit words: “Ayur” meaning ‘life’, and “Veda” meaning ‘knowledge’. Its doctrine of prevention means that people are often treated before showing signs of illness. This involves them keeping in constant, close touch with the practitioner, who will monitor patient’s entire way of life including diet, and therapeutic modalities like massage and yoga.

SHIATSU I 16 Hours
Instructor: Larissa Cisaruk, NCTMB, C.T.M., R.S.Pn., C.S.P.
Prerequisite: none
Bring: mat or thick quilt, a blanket, and a pillow

Shiatsu is a distinctive bodywork that focuses on energy movement. Recipients of Shiatsu say they feel "relaxed yet energized" because this modality relaxes the body and balances energy, releasing any blockages to promote the free flow of Chi (life force, energy). This discipline is traditionally performed on a mat on the floor rather than on a table. The client stays fully clothed.

In Shiatsu we use the palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, forearms, knees, and feet to apply therapeutic compressions, dynamic rotations and stretches. This treatment offers a host of benefits, from toning the skin and increasing range of motion, to improving body awareness.

Students receive a complete introduction to the basic applications and philosophy of Shiatsu, and learn a complete flow/form. This class also includes an introduction to 10 acupressure points, body mechanics appropriate for floor techniques, energy awareness exercises, and Do-In (a self-help modality).

SHIATSU II 16 Hours
Instructor: Larissa Cisaruk, NCTMB, C.T.M., R.S.Pn., C.S.P.
Prerequisite: Shiatsu I
Bring: mat or thick quilt and a blanket

Shiatsu II advances the development of Shiatsu skills to the next level. In this class there is a new, more elaborate, more specific flow. Students study 12 new acupressure points, more meridian work, Yin/Yang principles, seven basic rules of Shiatsu, as well as adjusting and tailoring work according to specific needs. There are additional self help techniques, breathing and relaxation exercises, along with a new Do-In routine, and Ampuka (abdominal applications)

This workshop provides the next step many students want after their first experience with this Asian wellness modality.

TABLE SHIATSU 16 Hours
Instructor: Larissa Cisaruk, NCTMB, C.T.M., R.S.Pn., C.S.P.
Prerequisite: None
Bring: 1 sheet, 1 pillow, and 2 pillowcases

This class enables Myomassologists to provide clients with the benefits of Shiatsu while working on a massage table rather than on  the floor. Many Shiatsu techniques are easy to incorporate into your massage routines, and Table Shiatsu provides you with a complete flow including compressions, stretches, and movements that translate beautifully to the table for both supine and prone positions. Recipients remain fully clothed in this workshop.

Students are introduced to basic philosophy, terminology, energy flow and meridians, diagnostic areas of the back, self help and focusing exercises, as well as how to take inventory of their own bodies, and proper body mechanics when working table side.

TABLE THAI I 16 HOURS
Instructor: Randy Fillion, NCTMB, C.T.M.
Prerequisite: None
Bring: a blanket and a pillow

In this class, applications of Thai Massage techniques are linked together and performed on a massage table to create a unique healing experience. This was designed for students who want to expand their table massage techniques, and may be uncomfortable working on the floor for extended periods of time.

TABLE THAI II 16 HOURS
Instructor: Randy Fillion, NCTMB, C.T.M.
Prerequisite: Table Thai I
Bring: a blanket and a pillow

This class will begin with a brief review of Table Thai I and then expand on those theories. The advanced techniques and topics presented will include new stretches, a side-lying variation with stretching and pressing, and thumb compression methods.

THAI-YURVEDIC YOGA MASSAGE I 20 HOURS
