Free Continuing Education Class Ethics  Rob Kelly

*Online Registration For This Class Is Now Closed

A strong ethical foundation is imperative for a massage therapist.  This class will explore common issues all therapists have faced, as well as new considerations in regards to utilizing today’s technology such as social networking. 

 

This free continuing education class will provide 2 hours credit for the National Certification Exam.   It is open to all practicing therapists, but advance registration is required.  Space is limited to 100 people.  A waiting list will be utilized.  Once class begins, the next person present on the wait list will be allowed in class for each person who does not show up.

Amateur Shoulder Massage Class Janet Szwabowski

This free class will teach you the simple basics of a neck and shoulder massage.  The class will be held outside under a tent on the north side of the building.  Anyone is welcome to attend this class on a first come, first serve basis until full.

Free Continuing Education Class Massage for Life Michael Rice

This class will instruct you on fundamentals of self care to use before, during and after clients! You will learn several basic exercises to offset the wear and tear that comes from giving massage, and provide you with health, energy and longevity in your business.  Bring a yoga mat to participate.

 

This free continuing education class will provide 2 hours credit for the National Certification Exam.  It is open to all practicing therapists, but advance registration is required.  Space is limited to 75 people.  A waiting list will be utilized.  Once class begins, the next person present on the wait list will be allowed in class for each person who does not show up.

This free class will provide substitutions to the Standard American Diet.  There are tasty alternatives to the empty calories  in foods most people reach for.  Anyone is welcome to attend this class on a first come, first serve basis until full.

Pet Adoption Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL)

We are happy to have MARL on campus with pets that need a loving home.  They will also be available to accept donations in Irene's name.  We will donate $2 for every participant in the Guinness Record Event to this nonprofit group.

Musical Performance by Steve Acho

Steve Acho is a Detroit-based singer-songwriter-pianist.  The pop-rock-piano-man sells thousands of downloads of his heartfelt originals, and his soulful versions of popular cover songs on iTunes and more.  He has performed as far west as Las Vegas and California and as far east as Japan.  Steve sang the national anthem several times before Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings games, and has shared the stage with Eddie Money, Lee Greenwood, Roberta Flack, and Randy Travis.  We are excited to have this talented musician perform for Irene's Birthday Bash!  www.steveacho.com

Guinness Record Breaking Guided Massage

In celebration of Irene Gauthier's 90th birthday, we will smash the Guinness Book of World Records for the Largest Massage Chain ever. This record is currently set in British Columbia, Canada at 630 participants. Irene's will reach upwards to more than 2,000 people to not only break the record, but to make it unbreakable!

 

Former instructor, talented therapist, and dear friend, Carol Bell is flying in from Virginia for this.  She will guide us through a 10-15 minute massage routine, leaving us all relaxed and happy.  Upon completion of the massage chain, our Guinness sanctioned event will be Officiated by Southfield Mayor, Brenda Lawrence and Minister, Ric Beattie to be documented in the World Record Book.

Peace Pole Christening

In honor of Irene's 90^th Birthday, we have purchased a 7’ peace pole that will be installed in the garden outside of the school.  We will christen the pole with rose petals and a blessing by Minister Ric Beattie.  www.peacepoles.com

Birthday Song

All of Irene's guests will sing her Happy Birthday as she prepares to blow out the candles on her organic cake.  No worries, we won't have 90 candles, so the fire fighters won't be summoned.  Birthday cake will be distributed to guests with coffee service under the tents.
